Boiler Maintenance Mechanic Job
Summary:
The Boiler Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for hands-on maintenance and repair work related to steam and gas boilers, associated controls, electrical circuits, and piping systems.
Qualifications:
Hands-on experience and good working knowledge of steam & gas boilers (gas, oil & combustion) and associated systems.
Knowledge of burner wiring, circuitry, installation, and maintenance.
Thorough understanding of safety procedures.
Physical ability to perform tasks such as bending, kneeling, lifting heavy objects, driving, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods (up to 100lbs).
Acceptable corrected visual acuity.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Trade school and field experience within the last 3 years dealing directly with boiler systems.
Good knowledge of NYC construction codes and standards.
Ability to read, write, and speak English to understand and interpret instructions.
Responsibilities:
Inspect all equipment and make necessary repairs.
Perform maintenance work related to various trades including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.
Basic pump repair knowledge and skills.
Maintain customers' oil burners, boilers, furnaces, and associated controls.
Restore power when failures have occurred and restart/reset equipment as necessary.
Basic boiler burner troubleshooting skills (electrical and mechanical).
Knowledge of burner oil systems.
Perform necessary service on customer's heating equipment related to emergency service calls.
Maintain necessary parts inventory in technicians' service van.
