Trades Specialist (Mason and Plasterer)

Under the direction of a higher-level Trades Supervisor, the Trades Specialist (Mason and Plasterer) performs journey level tasks and projects involving masonry, plaster work and stonework. Duties include, but are not limited to:
o Plan and lay out work, including ordering materials and equipment; o Perform routine masonry and repairs including finish work including mixing concrete; o Perform restoration work on historic buildings and structures in order to maintain the original fabric of the building; o Lay building materials such as stone, brick, concrete, cinder blocks and the like to construct of repair walls, partitions, utility holes, firebrick linings in furnaces and chimneys; o Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls and sidewalks to specified texture; o Apply coats of plaster to walls and ceilings, including the preparation of surface, mixing of plaster, application of plaster and erection of scaffolding if needed. o May draw rough sketches or prepare plans to accomplish work projects as required; lay out tasks for subordinate staff and perform necessary trades tasks as required; o Give verbal instruction and/or demonstrate proper masonry techniques and use of tools and equipment to subordinate staff; o Conduct inspections of facilities to determine maintenance needs and make recommendations of priorities for repair based on nature of maintenance problem; o May be required to load and unload materials, tools and equipment of varying weights and sizes as needed in the performance of duties assigned. o May recommend to supervisor, and order, the type, quantity and quality of materials to be used for projects, and may be required to prepare specifications for purchase; o Operate light trucks, passenger vehicles, tractors, landscape equipment and other small equipment as required; o Perform other related duties as required.

Salary Range:
From $50617 to $61103 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Four years of full-time experience in masonry under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program, or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in masonry at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services; OR successful completion of the two-year Trades Specialist (Mason & Plasterer) traineeship or a two-year masonry training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship and Certificate Program. Successful completion of the traineeship and the training program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific class room instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work. Course work must be completed with an average of 'C' or better. Additionally, successful completion of the traineeship also includes 4,000 hours of on-the-job training.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
